 Spiritual aspects

Spirituality is the foundation of psychic work. Do not confuse spirituality with religion. I have met many people in the world that are spiritual and not necessarily religious, and I have met a lot of people who are religious and can be anything BUT spiritual.

Spirituality is defined in the dictionary as a shared common belief. If you and I decide right here and now that we are going to worship a monkey’s buttocks, we will have just formed a religion, and it may even be BETTER than some religions out there already judging by the state of the world. Spirituality is quite different in that it has to do with the way you live (which may or may not have anything to do with what you believe), and how you interact with your environment based on your connection to that spark of inner divinity that we call spirit. The life force within all of us, that makes each and everyone simply another cell in the body of God (whoever/whatever that may be to you). With religion you define yourself by what you believe, whereas with spirituality you define yourself by WHO YOU ARE. Spirituality is far more important when it comes to guiding people, which I HOPE is one of your main reasons for wanting to develop your abilities; too many gain access to this field for the wrong reasons, but eventually they pay the price.

The difference between a psychic and a fortune teller

There is a BIG difference between a psychic and a fortune teller. A fortune teller is a reader, which is exactly as it sounds. You go to one and they lay out the cards, or read the palms, etc. While these types of things can be fun and entertaining, and sometimes accurate, you don’t have to be psychic to do them, you merely have to be an interpreter albeit your intuitive side tells you what to say. There is a certain dependency on these modalities with fortune tellers and without the cards, etc. it is hard for them to tell you much. Don’t forget also that the meaning of each card is general to start with because everyone who draws it has to be able to relate to it in some way. Some fortune tellers are able to put together the meanings of various cards in a spread and come up with quite an accurate description of your life, but if you take a look at how they derived to that point, a lot of times it is merely similar to flow charting. They are usually cheaper, you can go to any one of a number of little psychic tea rooms and pay your twenty/thirty dollars for a little mini reading; be lucky if they haven’t talked you up from the original price with the old ‘bait and switch’. This is ok if you want to try it for fun, maybe you just have a question or two and don’t want a full out reading, this is fine. If you are only going to spend your money on something else anyway and are just out for some entertainment, which may even come true…, who knows… then this is definitely the avenue to go.

A psychic on the other hand does not need the props that a fortune teller would. A psychic is confident enough in his/her abilities to go out on a limb, sometimes without anything to distract from their clear mental vision (clairvoyance = French for “clear vision”). A psychic will give you insight, assurance, guidance and confirmation all while pointing out your strengths, potentials and dreams. I like to say that it is a fortune teller’s job to tell the future, while it is a psychic’s job to help you believe in yourself and guide you through your future. You know you have had a good psychic reading if you walk away not only knowing the future, (which you will get anyway, maybe it will come true and maybe it won’t… only God is 100%) but also if you walk away saying “You have helped me believe in myself and I know I can handle the future”. Psychics know that things are not always written in stone and that the only concrete part of any psychic reading is the past and present because you can’t change it. A fortune teller will, nine times out of ten, give you your future as if it were written in stone… and then they never have to see you again and a lot of times they don’t. I like to say that fortune tellers don’t have to care but psychics do.

You must ask yourself first: “What is it I am looking for from a session?” Once you have your answer you must pick and choose accordingly. Remember that only God is 100% and ANY psychic no matter how good will not always be right on the mark, everyone has their off days, and sometimes, there just are no changes, or you are not SUPPOSED to know the answer. If you find you are not receiving accurate information, inform the psychic right away, he/she will not know that they are off, they will only know what they want to say.

FAQ

Can psychics read for themselves?

The answer is NO. While any psychic can attempt to read for themselves, the ability to do that with any great amount of accuracy is in my opinion a delusion of grandeur on the psychics part. There ARE psychics who will SAY that they can read for themselves, but in reality, show me that they are any better off than any one of us as a result of it… Why are their lives not perfect? Surely they can read into every situation if they do have this ability and know exactly where to be when, and thus make life effortless… This is impossible because psychics need to make mistakes in order to learn and grow like everyone else. The Creator doesn’t let us off that easy. It is too hard to tell the difference between what you are seeing, what you are hoping, what you are afraid of, etc. As soon as personal feelings i.e. emotional attachment gets in the way, all the psychic stuff goes out the window. It is even hard to read for people who are close to you for the same reason, and any GOOD psychic out there whose gift has not gone to their head will agree with me. Psychics are just like anyone else and if you are thinking of developing your gift to make life easier, think again. Sometimes we end up making MORE mistakes than the average person because in order to guide people you have to speak from experience in that school called life. Your gift CAN however give you insight into others, and also teach you to trust your own feelings and be confident knowing that at the very least, you will learn and grow from each step that you take because you are following your heart.

Do psychics believe in God

The answer is YES, and maybe NO. To clarify, while it has been my general experience that the psychics I have run into DO believe in God, I cannot speak for all who are out there. Why can’t an atheist have psychic ability? Psychic ability is a gift and can be used as such, your gifts have nothing to do with what you may, or may not believe as a person with regards to religious dogma. I personally believe in a higher source, but I do not push that on anyone, nor do I expect to be pushed as any would know who have read the article I wrote on psychic readings and the bible which was published in the Renfrew News Thanksgiving 1998, it can be viewed on my website. I will sum up by saying that it is ok for a psychic to believe in God, and in fact if you do I think it can only benefit your spiritual side in the long run. If you do not believe in God however, don’t think it is a crime, either way it is just a matter of choice and shouldn’t affect your gift; cooking may be a gift, if this is so would it be effected by if you believe in God or not?

Why does the future sometimes not come true?

The only ‘concrete’ part of a psychic reading is the past and present because you cannot change it. When a psychic gives a prediction, it is like a forecast based on the way things are going presently in your life. Psychics do not however take away your freedom of choice. If a psychic does a reading for someone on a current situation and tells them what is going to happen in a year, it means that based on the way things are ‘at this moment’ and ‘without conscious effort’, the prediction is likely to happen, and nine times out of ten it will. (Only God is 100%) You still have the freedom of will to change your future by making decisions that may affect the outcome alternatively. Sometimes, the decisions that you make change your future, remember, for the same reason as psychics can not read for themselves, your life is not meant to be without lessons either.

Why do psychics always want to dwell on your past in a reading?

Psychics dwell on your past in a reading for two main reasons. The first reason is that if a psychic cannot tell you your past, then they have no business going into the future. Think about it for one minute… How do you know that the psychic is not making up stories about your future and just ripping you off for your hard earned money? If they are that psychic that they can see accurately into your future, should they not be able to tell you at least one thing that you know and they don’t? Can you really be sure they are not babbling if they cannot say ‘this is something that HAS happened to you’ before they say ‘this is something that will happen’? Don’t go into a psychic reading with specific expectations either however. Psychic energy is not like a switch, psychics cannot just snap our fingers and say “give me the answer to this one specific detail NOW…” (Life should be so easy…) Sometimes these are the expectations that our clients come to a session with. There are those who go into psychic readings with the attitude ‘if this person is really psychic then they will pick up on [whatever their own agenda is] right away’ and they may sit through an entire reading and receive so much guidance and direction, but in the end be disappointed because they put their quarter in the juke box and the wrong song came out. Even though the whole reading was accurate, these types of people will never see it, or hear the words of wisdom and guidance that WAS meant for them. (Sometimes we are not meant to know the answer…) Quite frankly, psychics do not like to read for those types of people. Myself personally, I will cut them right off at the pass with something like “I can’t pick up on you” and send them home without charging them the minute I sense they are anal. It is a small price for me to pay in order to buy them out of my life, albeit I am not surprised why they feel like they need direction. (They are too blind to see) Getting back to my original point… Don’t go in expecting an exact specific thing, just go in assuming that the psychic has the ability to see SOMETHING that you know and they don’t before they start going into the future.

The second reason why psychics will dwell on your past is confirmation for us. Tuning into your past lets the psychic know that they are picking up accurately, it is human nature to second guess what you see in your minds eye, professional or not. If a psychic has told you something about your past and you have confirmed that it is accurate, then it enables the psychic to relax more when concentrating on your future as the confirmation that his/her vision is correct has been established. Seeing where you come from in order to establish where you are going is the natural order of things in a psychic reading as well as in life.

Today is only reflective of yesterday, and tomorrow will only be reflective of today. Understanding the direction in which your life is headed lies in soul searching your own patterns that have already been established through what you have done. Never underestimate what your past can tell you, as the old adage goes: “Sometimes hindsight is BETTER than foresight.

Visualization

Now that we know the terrible truth that there is no present we have to take a look at the subconscious mind. The subconscious understands symbols, which are in fact in themselves, the language of the subconscious. That is why when we dream, we dream in symbols, pictures if you will, it is not sentences with a bouncing blue ball that we merely must follow. Our dreams come from the subconscious, and symbols are this part of the brain’s way of communicating with us.

Realize that the subconscious mind is the influence behind every conscious thought and action. This is textbook psychology and has been studies and proven time and time again. You also have to realize that the subconscious does not have the ability to distinguish between an actual event and a visualized event in our lives. We literally do not have the ability to tell the difference between fact and fantasy. This is why we react so emotionally to our dreams; we do not know that they are not real. Once we wake up and our conscious mind takes over, then we realize “ok… it was just a dream…”, but while we are still asleep and in a purely subconscious state, we do not know it is not real. Physical reactions to sexual fantasy would be another good example, our bodies react because something is being visualized and our subconscious does not know the difference.

Now that we have two tidbits of valuable information on the subconscious we can put two and two together and assimilate that once we visualize something strongly enough, the subconscious believes it to be true and it then becomes a part of our past. If it is then a part of our past, once it becomes a part of our past, our subconscious mind has to force us into conscious action to make it a reality; how could it be part of our past if it is not real? This is part of why the future comes true sometimes as well. You are opening yourself up to the psychic and you would not be there unless there was at least a minute part of yourself that was thinking “this person ‘may’ be able to tell my future”. There is always a certain element that dictates ‘power of suggestion’ because of this. It is what they call “the placebo effect”, like when the doctor used to prescribe sugar pills for patients that only thought they were sick and miraculously, the patients seemed to feel cured!

In addition to visualizing, you also have to lock the visualization into muscle memory in order for the subconscious to totally accept it. Writing it down is good, lighting a candle is ok, even specific postures such as prayer or meditation seem to be ok. Is there any physical difference between someone who goes into a (Catholic) church, lights a candle and says a prayer, and another who goes home, lights a candle and utters an incantation? The answer is NO. It is all ‘a rose by any other name’ and how you go about it is as individual as you are, as long as you stick to the basic skeletal framework of visualizing, and then locking it into muscle memory.

This is how the ‘power of prayer’ works, it is how folk magic works (candle burning 101) it is how ‘creative visualization’ works, etc.

Affirmations

Affirmations are a very valuable tool when it comes to the opening up of your abilities so that they can flow. Why affirmations are important is outlined in the previous section on visualization, and they are our first step in awakening what is within.

What is an affirmation?

An affirmation is an attempt to consciously stimulate the subconscious mind through super imposing thought forms through words. By ‘telling’ yourself enough, you eventually kick the subconscious into a mode whereby it controls your conscious actions and you begin achieving, or at least this is the theory. It is just like when you were a child and had to learn not to wet the bed. You would tell yourself over and over again before going to sleep ‘I will not [do a no-no] in my sleep’ and eventually ‘voila’ you did not have to worry about those nasty little messes any more! This was your very first affirmation.

Affirmations can be a powerful tool when it comes to transforming the mind into awareness. It is also a very important first step in developing visualization skills as some may feel they have problems with these.

Basic affirmations

Preceding two affirmations found in manual available from Ravenhawk

I AM AWARE

Do this for nine weeks before moving on to the next affirmation. Nine is the number of fertility, which doesn’t have to always be in the traditional sense of how we associate the word. Nine is perfection (three) squared, the only means by which of attaining procreation. Again I will remind you that if you miss a day with any of these affirmations you should start over.

Our next visualization is for harmony which goes hand in hand with awareness and it is simply “I AM IN TUNE” It is one thing to be aware as a whole person with the senses, but emotionally are you feeling ‘in tune’ with your surroundings even though you may be aware of them. Once you become in tune it is amazing how your feelings for your surroundings can change. Are you part of the melody that makes up the cyclical flow of life, or are you playing a note that is off and thus upsetting the syncopation set up at the onset of your journey? Once again you will want to get out your journal and write down all that this means to you so that you can review at a later time and track the changes you have made.

I AM IN TUNE

Do this for twenty one weeks and see if things in your world are not starting to take on new meaning on a level of appreciation. There are twenty one days between moon cycles and twenty one is seven times three (creation times perfection, the magical child within) After twenty one weeks you are ready to move on to our last affirmation.

Our last affirmation puts us in tune with our true essence of being. We are all inhabited by spirit, which really at its core has no gender or identity save that of pure existence. It makes each and every one of us no more and no less than another cell in the body of God. This is one of the four primary laws of creation; the law of identity. Our fifth affirmation is simply “I AM SPIRIT”. Think about what it means to just ‘be’ for a moment. Close your eyes and imagine yourself looking out from inside your body, feel that body as a shell. Feel your spirit dance and shift, and just simply ‘be’. Get out your journal again and record the feelings that this gave you, and also what it means to you in list form again.

I AM SPIRIT

Do this for forty weeks and you are done. Forty is the sum of three, seven, nine and twenty one. According to the story Noah spent forty days and forty nights in the ark, and life begins at forty! See if changes have not started to occur on a deep level after reviewing your affirmations from the beginning in you journal. Now it is time to move on to visualization.

Visualization

Thought forms

A thought form is a life form or we would not have our world around us. Everything that you see around you, including yourself started off as a thought form. (As did this manual) Thought is energy and energy is motion… Our Universe is comprised of nothing but energy; take away all of the elements associated with time, space and evolution with everything that you see around you and what are you left with? It is a rhetorical question, the answer is energy. Remember from earlier that the present is only visual, a physical manifestation of two opposing forces (past and future) meeting, i.e. the magical child concept one again.

Meditation

Meditation, when done properly can be a cornerstone of psychic development. It helps expand the mind and calm the spirit, all while allowing your to focus on a single moment in time that becomes endless once you are properly in trance. There are many ways to meditate, the most popular of course being to quiet the mind until it is void of all thoughts.

There are many meditation aids available to help you on your quest via sound, light, vibration in its many forms. Some of these aids are as follows:

The list goes on and on… These are the basic four for now though that you want to work with in order to develop faster.

Why do all these things work?

All of these things work because they speak directly to the subconscious mind. In using them you are stimulating areas of the subconscious that normally you would have to work a lot harder to tap into. Let’s take a look at some specific exercises that we can start with, keep a journal handy so that you can record your progress.

 1.    Complete info found in manual available from Ravenhawk

  1. Again, find some meditation music; see if you can look for something a little ethereal in its overtones. Light up some Champa incense (Found in most East Indian stores) and light a violet candle.

Now relax and wait once more, for sensations, feelings and all else that may come to you. Whenever you are ready once more, come back down, slowly retracting your consciousness back to your own space and body. Open your eyes and record what you experienced. Did you notice a difference from exercise number 1?

  1. With no music, set a quiet ambiance. Make sure that your phone is turned off and that you are not expecting any visitors. Lower the lights and light up a gold candle and some frankincense.

Stare into the candle flame and let your mind be drawn into its radiance. Close your eyes and still see the candle flame drawing you in, imagine you can feel the physical sensation of its heat and feel your being become one with its spirit. Now, with your eyes still closed, stare up and toward the middle of your forehead. You should feel a tightening in your third eye. As you feel this tightening, envision your third eye opening up so as to bring you vision.

When you are done and satisfied, return to consciousness and open your eyes. Record anything you may have experienced in your journal.

In all three cases your experiences should be slightly different. These are three very good exercises to perform on a regular basis. Now let’s take a look at another element that is fundamental to proper meditation…

Breathing

Breathing is what controls the body, and thus, through a domino effect on subtler levels, controls the mind and spirit. There are five different kinds of breath that relate to the five elements of earth, water, air, fire and spirit. Each one will affect you subtly in different ways.

Air

The air breath is the most common. It is in through the nose and out through the nose. It is the thinker’s breath, the breath you use when studying, likely the breath you are using to read this manual. It stimulates mental growth and activity.

Water

Earth

The earth breath is a grounding breath. It is in through the nose and out through the mouth. It is a breath that will ground you physically and help give you strength. It is the breath most commonly used by body builders when trying to lift heavy weights.

Fire

Using each of the breaths in turn, close your eyes and visualize a simple shape. Now in your minds eye, Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

Keep track in your journal the different effects that breathing has on your daily thought processes. Take note of what breath you are using from time to time during your normal daily activities. Try changing breaths once in a while if having difficulty with certain thought processes or activities. You will notice a difference.

The Aura

What is the aura

The aura is the energy field that surrounds all things and not just the human body. A good way to look at it would be to realize that everything around us is vibrating at a certain level because everything is made up of energy particles called atoms; energy is vibration, vibration is motion and so on. The best physical example that you could actually feel would be opposing sides of a magnet.

The Chakras

The aura is held together by our meridians which are like an invisible set of lines around our bodies, which are in turn again connected to the seven chakras. The seven chakras in order are:

1.                        The base of the spine

2.                        The genitals

3.                        The solar plexus

4.                        The heart

5.                        The throat

6.                        The third eye a.k.a. The pineal gland (middle of forehead)

7.                        The crown of the scalp

Each chakra has a different color as energy is measured in units of heat and vibration, as each of them vibrate differently, each one gives off a different color frequency which is as follows:

Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

A good way to remember it is to think of the rainbow. The colors of the chakras are exactly the same as the order of the rainbow, from infra red at the base of the spine to ultra violet at the crown of the scalp.

If you would like to learn to see the aura, which can be very beneficial when feeling out people’s energies, you can practice with this simple exercise…

Stare directly at the middle of your palm under dim lighting. Make sure your palm is against a solid background and hold it still. Stare right through your palm as if it isn’t there and use your peripheral vision. If you do this and allow your palm to go out of focus, a slight glow should begin to appear peripherally around the outside of your hand. If you move your eyes it will be gone, so it is very important to maintain focus until the aura comes through clear and bright. It may take you a few times, but practice makes perfect and with a little patience you too could be seeing people’s aura in vivid color.  You can also practice with a partner in this same manner by staring through the middle of their forehead.

Reading the cards

Learning to use cards as a focal tool to develop your intuitive side can be fun and exciting. The cards are an excellent way to learn to tap into the energy of others because of their simplicity in meaning and interpretive nature. Because as many people look at a card, are as many people that could interpret it differently, when you interpret what is laid out in front of you, what you are really doing is interpreting based on what you feel from the person in front of you. The meaning of each individual card in itself is often very general, that is because everyone who looks at it has to be able to relate to it in some way. It is only once you put several meanings together to make up a story, and that story is presented based on what you are feeling from the person in question, that specifics begin to fall into place. The cards then take on meaning as relates to specific circumstances and individual life path. There are three spreads that we will cover for the purpose of cards reading. For individual meanings of the cards I will refer you to the guide book that came with whatever deck you are using.

The Celtic Cross

The ‘Celtic Cross’ is one of the most common spread amongst Tarot decks. It consists of 10 positions as is illustrated:

Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

The Celtic Cross is as follows:

Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

When reading the cards, follow the positions in sequential order letting the individual meanings flow into one another so as to make up a story line. It may take a bit of practice at first as time and repetition is the key to perfection with all things. The positions are as follows:

  1. The immediate issue at hand
  2. The major influence over that issue
  3. Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk
  4. The present
  5. Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk
  6. Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk
  7. What you are feeling on the inside
  8. Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk
  9. Hopes and fears
  10. Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

You can use this spread to gain general insight into a person’s life and energies that they are dealing with, you can also use it for individual questions. Now you just have to come up with presentation as far as articulating the meanings as they unfold and tell their story. Something important to keep in mind about position number two is that if the cards are facing left to right once laid down, then it is an influence from the past and one that the person is likely already dealing with. If the card is facing right to left, then it is an influence coming in from the future. Also keep in mind that with position number nine, a person’s greatest hope is also their greatest fear, as what they hope to gain the most is also always what they are most afraid of losing.

The Wheel of the year

The wheel of the year is another very good spread that can get a little more specific as far as timing is concerned. The positions are as follows:

The three card question and answer spread

The three card question and answer spread is quick, fun and the one I use most often when working with large crowds. It is very simple and is illustrated as follows:

It is a simple answer to a simple question. Look at the three positions and let Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk and voila! The answer to your question is revealed.

Conclusion

Now that we have covered some of the very basics that you need as a cornerstone for foundation in psychic development, go out and have fun! Remember that spirituality is the key when helping guide others, and remember that insight and guidance are as important (if not more important sometimes…) than predictions. Do your exercises, keep your journal, and develop your way with words so as to dazzle, amaze and astound those around you. It is not that hard; you don’t have to know a lot, but you DO have to know what you are doing… Happy readings and may the blessings of all that is good and pure guide you on your journey; in no time you could be one of the greats.

Reiki Level 1

Founded in Japan ; Dr. Mikao Usui acquired this Healing ability on Mt. Kurama and named it formally: Usui Reiki Ryoho. Along with this new healing technique, Dr. Usui also set down the “Gokai”, or, 5 Reiki Principals as well as a teaching method so that this new found method and way of life could be handed down and shared with as many people as possible. In Usui level 1 we will cover the Gokai, techniques for channeling Usui Reiki, the basics of the ‘Chakras’, techniques for self Reiki, as well as the basics of visualization and affirmations. This will be followed by a personal attunement to the symbols and energy of Usui Reiki so that the student will be able to, in essence, resonate with the flow and beauty of Reiki.

Reiki can be translated “Spiritual energy”, the suffix ‘ki’ in itself meaning “Life force”, or indirectly, “vital energy” could also be fair to say. Ryoho (pronounced ‘REE-HO’) can be translated as “healing method. Put the two together and you have “Dr. Usui’s Spiritual energy healing method”, or, “Usui Reiki Ryoho”.

Reiki is a facilitator by nature. It is a compliment to any other healing modality (method) and is not to be advertised as a cure. It is a complimentary alternative health therapy, indirectly related to therapeutic touch. Reiki touches our spirit at the core, and by doing so, it allows things to surface that need not be carried anymore. In releasing stored negativity and trauma, it can also facilitate emotional release and physical benefits can be notices as a result.

Note: * We all store emotions in our muscles and organs. Releasing these things by using Reiki as part of a regular stress management regime can help restore fundamental balance and function.

The benefits of regularly channeling Usui Reiki Ryoho can be profound over a steady period of application, coupled with proper outlook and dispositional development.

The Gokai (5 Reiki principals)

Dr. Mikao Usui laid down the 5 Reiki principals of his Spiritual energy healing method as a preferred outlook and disposition to be developed by the Reiki practitioner that is complimentary to the focus of Reiki and its many healing applications. They are also meant as daily ‘affirmations’ and/or ‘mantras’ that over time and steady application, can have profound effects for the positive on our subconscious mind, and by osmosis, our life. The 5 Reiki principals or, ‘Gokai’ are as follows:

Just for today I will not worry.

Worry is also a human emotion, and as part of human nature, we can be subject to it from time to time. It is when we start to create alternate, negative realities as a result of worry that things become unhealthy. “Just for today I will not worry” refers to letting our fears control us instead of just letting tomorrow unfold its own destiny. You can not create destiny before it happens, to do so is futile and a waste of energy, as karma will always unfold exactly how, when and where it should. DO not obsess over the divine plan of the Universe and focus instead on what is in front of you. Until it is within reach, it is not a reality.

I will honor my parents, teachers and elders.

We all choose our parents as children. When in spirit we know all, and we make our choices based on what it is that we need to learn. It is not an emotional decision like we would make as human beings, just a certain draw or pull based on where we are on the scale of karma, like sides of a magnet. Sometimes our karma is better than others, but whatever our karma, rest assured there is a reason why we are where we are.

Everyone is our teacher. Sometimes we learn good things while other times we learn to apply temperance. Karmic lessons such as acceptance, perseverance, humility and patience are not always fun to learn, but we have to learn them nonetheless. Whenever you find yourself met with feelings of anxiety due to other people, step back and ask yourself “What teaching am I supposed to be embracing?” and then apply the other Reiki principals along with what you discover. This can have a profound difference on mental and emotional health, and ultimately, your inner spirit.

The words of elders are the words of the wise. One can not deny the wisdom of those who have gone before, for it is experience that imbues wisdom. Intelligence and wisdom are two different things. Anyone can be intelligent, if you want to be intelligent; read a book. If you want to be more intelligent; read two books. But wisdom; the next time an elder speaks up, listen as closely as you would to a child, for just as out of the mouth of babes, out of the mouths of those who need our care in later years can be worth more than gold. Listen closely lest wisdom be lost forever with the passing of years.

I will be grateful for all things.

Be thankful for what the Universe has given you. Abundance in itself is wonderful. It comes in many ways and to varying degrees, only when greed gets in the way that negativity can germinate. Remember that whatever your statuses in life, you always have more than you would have if you didn’t have as much. The old parable of the man who was sad because he had no foot until he saw a man with no legs holds true. Stop worrying about tomorrow and be thankful for today.

The ‘Gokai’ as a mantra:

To work with a mantra is in essence to meditate and ‘intone’ the words as you fall deeper and deeper into a relaxed state. To ‘intone’ is to feel the words vibrate through your body and by osmosis your spirit and you draw out the sounds while deeply articulating them. To do this is to impress them on the subconscious mind and open the doors for our guides to reveal even further meanings behind their concepts. This can work well before sleep also.

Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk The minute this happens, use your breathing to bring you back out of your trance state and feel refreshed. Take careful notes as to what you felt or experienced during this exercise and repeat again whenever desired. Remember, like any relationship, you will get out of it what you put into it.

The ‘Gokai’ as an affirmation:

To work with an affirmation is to further impress on the subconscious mind through deliberate and calculated repetition of a certain word or, most often, a certain phrase. Almost like a prayer in the way we approach it from a meditative angle. To close your eyes and meditate on the same phrase over and over again impresses on our subconscious its deeper meaning over time. To now visualize the phrase as well as meditate on it is what opens up the subconscious mind to be ready to absorb its meaning, as the subconscious mind is purely visual by nature. In addition to visualizing and meditating, articulating the thought form through familiar phrasing will eventually force the conscious mind into action and create the necessary changes we need to live in harmony. When all of this is combined with a specific posture such as ‘ghasso’, or traditional prayer (kneeling) it will lock everything into muscle memory and double the power of your affirmation and how it manifests in your life.

How affirmations work.

Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk Believe me when I tell you that the rabbit hole goes pretty deep beyond this also. Visually we have the representation of a concept that is perpetually out of reach to the infinite power. Keeping this in mind is the first step in wrapping your mind around our wonderful psychic Universe, now let’s take a step further and see where we can go from this realization.

This is how the Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk.

By ‘telling’ yourself Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk any more! This was your very first affirmation.

Affirmations can be a powerful tool when it comes to transforming the mind into awareness. It is also a very important first step in developing visualization skills as some may feel they have problems with these. Using the Gokai in this way will help bring you closer to the reality of living the Reiki lifestyle, in harmony with ourselves, as well as our world around us; it all starts with these FIVE basic principals.

The basics of the Chakras:

The aura is held together by our meridians which are like an invisible set of lines around our bodies, which are in turn again connected to the seven chakras. The seven chakras in order are:

1.                        The base of the spine

2.                        The genitals

3.                        The solar plexus

4.                        The heart

5.                        The throat

6.                        The third eye a.k.a. The pineal gland (middle of forehead)

7.                        The crown of the scalp

Each chakra has a different color as energy is measured in units of heat and vibration, as each of them vibrate differently, each one gives off a different color frequency which is as follows:

1.                        Base of the spine – red

2.                        Genitals – orange

3.                        Solar plexus – yellow

4.                        The heart – green

5.                        The throat – blue

6.                        The third eye – indigo

7.                        The crown of the scalp – violet

A good way to remember it is to think of the rainbow. The colors of the chakras are exactly the same as the order of the rainbow, from infra red at the base of the spine to ultra violet at the crown of the scalp. These Chakras are essential for our spiritual health and well being, as part of their main function is to connect us to Spirit; our connection from the microcosm (us = ‘micro’ = small) to the Macrocosm (Spirit/Universe/God… = ‘macro’ = big picture).

When practicing Reiki on ourselves for level 1, as well as for others later on in level 2, it is important to tune into each individual Chakra and its vibration so that we can help balance the energy flow as it connects each one. As mentioned earlier, we store emotions in our muscles and organs, releasing this trauma can be very complimentary when facilitating physical healing (which has also form time to time been known to happen through Reiki). Releasing trauma through the chakras is like pulling the anchor from the ocean floor, so that the ship can begin to move ahead. Remember, starting with the foundation when dealing with anything is always the key to sound progress. You want a foundation that is built on stone and not on sand.

Technique for working with the Chakras:

Hold your hands together so that your finger tips are Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk  in the pit of your stomach (known in Japanese as the ‘hara’), then flowing (on your exhale) up and through your arms to your hands as they begin to glow and emanate Reiki energy.

*Note: as your visualization gets better, you will Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk

Now, starting at the base Chakra, hold your hands about an inch from your skin and feel the chakra begin to ‘wake up’ as you consciously channel the Reiki energy through yourself by allowing it to just simply flow. It is important to realize that with Reiki energy, there should be no effort or struggle to channel; the energy should flow naturally as simply an extension of your reach. Just simply tell it to flow and it will!

Now, move one hand down to the second chakra and feel the second Chakra opening up in the same way. With one hand over the base Chakra still, visualize a flow of energy traveling from one to Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk When you are confident that the flow of energy is strong and that both Chakras are awake, you are ready to Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk; when you do this, repeat the same process. After going through all of the Complete info in manual available from Ravenhawk this similar manner, work your way back down to the base Chakra once more. Once you begin to feel things start to flow naturally after enough time and repetition, start to visualize the colors of the Chakras as well.

Once you have done this, you can begin to channel Reiki energy to all parts of your body/spirit that need direct attention and that you feel intuitively need healing.

Intuition

It is important with Reiki that you use intuition to tune in during treatments. If you are going to be working with energy, then it is very beneficial to be aware of the energy you are working with and where it is going. There are some additional things that sometimes can happen as a result of this, when engaged in self Reiki, some of these things may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Hidden memories suddenly surfacing… When this happens it can sometimes be memories connected to whatever trauma, or stored emotion that is in the process of being adjusted through treatment. In other cases it may be the subconscious mind taking you back to a teaching you need to embrace in order to accomplish what it is that you feel needs balance, if it is in the case of balancing emotions, or emotions stored physically causing further trauma.
  2. Visions… You may suddenly experience things such as being aware of additional guides and/or ascendant masters that are working along side you. In the case of visions, you would literally see them, although maybe not clearly at first; time and repetition will increase the clarity of your vision.
  3. Increased awareness… You may simply just be aware of additional energies aiding in your work. Because you are in somewhat of a trance state by altering your consciousness to channel Reiki energy, you may get psychic visions as well; be sure to take careful notes of anything that you feel would be of significance.
  4. Blissful emotions… Remember, Reiki energy is the pure, unadulterated, unconditional love of God; Sit back and enjoy…

Reiki Level 2

Brief review of Reiki level 1:

Reiki Ryoho was founded in Japan ; Dr. In Usui level 1 we covered the Gokai, techniques for channeling Usui Reiki, the basics of the ‘Chakras’, techniques for self Reiki, as well as the basics of visualization and affirmations. This was followed by a personal attunement to the symbols and energy of Usui Reiki so that the student was able to, in essence, resonate with the flow and beauty of Reiki.

The aura is held together by our meridians which are like an invisible set of lines around our bodies, which are in turn again connected to the seven chakras. The seven chakras in order are:

5.                        The throat

6.                        The third eye a.k.a. The pineal gland (middle of forehead)

7.                        The crown of the scalp

Each chakra has a different color as energy is measured in units of heat and vibration, as each of them vibrate differently, each one gives off a different color frequency which is as follows:

6.                        The third eye – indigo

7.                        The crown of the scalp – violet

Level 2:

Level 2 Reiki consists of THREE power symbols that are utilized when taking Reiki beyond treatment of self, to treatment of others. The student was attuned to these symbols in level 1 in order to facilitate the flow of Reiki energy. Now, with level 2, it is time for the student to receive the symbols and be attuned once more. Once this is completed, the student will have the tools necessary to go out and treat others with the unconditional love of God flowing through them. We will reveal these symbols, as well as discuss techniques for applying these symbols in treatment. Some basic ethics will be discussed, and in the end, the student will perform a treatment for the either the Reiki Master, or a volunteer.

Reiki is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing. Energy Healing involves direct application of Chi for the purpose of strengthening the clients energy system (aura).  Chi is the term used by the Chinese mystics and martial artists for the underlying force the Universe is made of.  Mystics in all cultures have talked about the physical universe being made of an underlying form of something, much as modern physics research is now coming to understand the Universe is made of energy which is subject to (or affected by) thought.  Just as modern physics says this energy is affected by thought the mystics also say this underlying form is affected by thought, going so far as to claim we create our own reality from our thinking and the thoughts we share between each of us every day.

Stop and reflect for a moment. of both Quantum Physics and ancient Metaphysics.  Might this make some diseases easier to explain, especially those which have no apparent physical cause?  Might this make miraculous cures easier to
